Eng­land 4 Wales 3, Ashton Gate, Brit­ish Ho­me Cham­pi­on­ship, Mar­ch 17, 1913. Al­though Wales were de­feated by neigh­bours Eng­land at Bris­tol City´s Ashton Gate, Man­chester Uni­ted out­side right Billy Mere­dith en­joyed an ex­cel­lent ga­me for The Dragons ag­ainst The Three Li­ons who ev­entually ma­naged to win the en­ter­tain­ing en­counter by four goals to three.

Wal­ter Dav­is put Wales in­to the lead wi­th a left-foot shot that be­at Der­by Coun­ty goal­keeper Ernald Scat­ter­good in the 10th min­ute of the fix­ture, but goals from Har­old Flem­ing, Ed­die Lath­er­on, and Joseph Mc­Call in the 27th, 30th and 35th min­ute re­spect­ively gave the ho­me si­de a 3-1 ad­vant­age at the break. Af­ter the re­start, Billy Mere­dith re­duced the de­fi­cit for the vis­it­ors when the thirty-eight-year-old stri­ker ham­mered the ball in­to the net sev­en min­utes in­to the sec­ond ha­lf, on­ly for As­ton Vil­la marks­man Harry Hamp­ton to make it 4-2 to Eng­land wi­th a head­er three min­utes la­ter. Liverpool´s Ern­est Peake sco­red a third goal for the Welsh­men in the 70th min­ute, but the hosts kept the vis­it­ors at bay for the re­mainder of the mat­ch to se­cure the win.
