Manchester United 4 Hull 3

Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United 4 Hull City 3, Old Trafford, English Premier League, November 1, 2008. Sir Alex Ferguson was charged with improper conduct in relation to his behaviour towards referee Mike Dean following the 4-3 win over Hull City. As the second half progressed, Ferguson grew increasingly frustrated as he thought the referee gave decisions in favour of City.

Cristiano Ronaldo put Manchester United into the lead when he beat Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill in the third minute of the clash. Daniel Cousin managed to equalise for for the visitors with a header after 23 minutes, but The Reds regained their advantage when Michael Carrick found the net in the 29th minute of the contest. Ronaldo bagged Manchester United´s third goal following 44 minutes, while Nemanja Vidic hit a fourth for the home side twelve minutes after the resumption. The East Yorkshire club staged a late comeback in the game, however, when Bernard Mendy scored in the 69th minute before Geovanni converted from the penalty spot on 82 minutes after the former had been fouled by Rio Ferdinand inside the eighteen-yard area. In the aftermath of the fixture, Sir Alex Ferguson was hopping mad at match official Mike Dean who he thought had made decisions in favour of The Tigers. Ferguson was particularly angered that the penalty was awarded against Ferdinand for an innocuous challenge on Mendy, while Michael Turner escaped a second yellow card for a foul on Carrick. Sir Alex Ferguson: “It should have been at least a yellow card, in which case the player would have been sent off.
