Manchester U 0 Liverpool 3
Manchester United 0 Liverpool 3, Old Trafford, English Premier League, March 16, 2014. Manchester United shot stopper David de Gea let in three goals at home to bitter adversaries Liverpool, but the 23-year-old Spaniard could hardly be blamed for any of them.
After going four Premier League matches without defeat, Manchester United lost 3-0 to Liverpool at Old Trafford. The Manchester Reds, who had suffered a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the 2013-14 season, found themselves a goal down in the 24th minute of the clash when Steven Gerrard beat David de Gea from the penalty spot after Rafael da Silva had handled the ball inside the 18-yard area. And the Liverpudlians were given their second penalty of the game just a minute into the second period following a foul on Joe Allen in the box by Phil Jones. Gerrard once again stepped up to the penalty spot and the England midfielder made no mistake as he put The Anfielders up 2-0. The drama continued when Nemanja Vidic was ordered off after bringing down Daniel Sturridge in the area in the 78th minute of the tussle and Liverpool were awarded a third penalty, but this time Gerrard missed from the spot. Still there was more to come as Luis Suarez rounded off the scoring in the 84th minute with a clever close range finish to make the final scoreline 3-0 in Liverpool´s favour.
