Alexander Forsyth, born Glasgow, Scotland, February 5, 1952. Alex Forsyth signed for Manchester United in a £100,000 deal in December 1972 as Tommy Docherty set out to rebuild his team.
Alex Forsyth became Tommy Docherty’s second purchase when he was bought for £100,000 from Scottish First Division side Patrick Thistle midway through the 1972-73 campaign. The Scot quickly settled down at Manchester United and the hard tackling full back was handed his First Division debut for The Reds by The Doc in a 3-1 defeat against title chasers Arsenal at Highbury on the 6th of January 1973. Forsyth would win the Second Division with United in 1974-75 and was a member of the team that reached the FA Cup Final the following season.
