David Moyes

Aston Villa 0 Manchester United 3, Villa Park, English Premier League, December 15, 2013. David Moyes was understandably pleased with the 3-0 win against Aston Villa and lavished particular praise on Danny Welbeck who netted his first Premiership goals since the 4-1 victory over Swansea City at Liberty Stadium on the opening day of the 2013-14 season.

Manchester United, who were playing in a 4-2-3-1 formation, defeated Paul Lambert´s Aston Villa by 3-0 at Villa Park courtesy of a first half brace by Three Lions forward Danny Welbeck and a second period goal from fellow England teammate Tom Cleverley. The Old Trafford side had experienced something of a rollercoaster start to the new campaign which had seen The Reds lose at home to West Bromwich Albion, Everton, and Newcastle United, but according to manager David Moyes, the defending Premier League champions had lacked a bit of good fortune which could have made all the difference, and he was probably spot on about that. David Moyes: “I thought Danny Welbeck did a good job, especially when we have Robin van Persie and Javier Hernandez out today. When you have chances, you show what you can do and he certainly did that.” Aston Villa Team: Brad Guzan, Nathan Baker, Matt Lowton, Antonio Luna, Ciaran Clark, Ashley Roy Westwood, Marc Albrighton, Karim El Ahmadi, Yacouba Sylla, Gabby Agbonlahor, Christian Benteke. Substitutes: Jordan Bowery, Alexander Tonev, Leandro Bacuna, Gary Gardner, Andi Weimann, Libor Kozak, Jed Steer. Manchester United Team: David de Gea, Rafael da Silva, Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra, Ryan Giggs, Tom Cleverley, Antonio Valencia, Danny Welbeck, Adnan Januzaj, Wayne Rooney. Substitutes: Darren Fletcher, Wilfired Zaha, Ashley Young, Rio Ferdinand, Fabio da Silva, Alexander Buttner, Anders Lindegaard.
