Following Premiership defeats against Brighton away and Spurs at home, Jose Mourinho´s Manchester United managed to beat Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor courtesy of two goals from Romelu Lukaku who netted in the 27th and 44th minutes of the game respectively.
Manchester United Head Coach Jose Mourinho had to make do without the playing services of goalkeeper Sergio Romero and defenders Diogo Dalot and Phil Jones, while Burnley manager Sean Dyche had to cope without winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson. Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku opened the scoring for Manchester United when he headed home an accurate cross from fellow forward Alexis Sanchez after twenty-seven minutes of play. The Belgian was a constant threat to the Burnley defence and the big frontman added a second goal for Manchester United as he beat former Manchester City custodian Joe Hart with a close range effort one minute ahead of the half-time break. The Old Trafford team were rightfully handed a penalty-kick by match official Jonathan Moss in the 69th minute of the encounter after Burnley winger Aaron Lennon had fouled Marcus Rashford inside the eighteen-yard box, but Paul Pogba missed from the spot. And although Manchester United were reduced to ten players when Rashford was ordered off by the referee for a headbutt on Turf Moor defender Phil Bardsley a couple of minutes later, The Reds held on to gain their first away win of the 2018-19 campaign.
