Man­chester Uni­ted re­turned to their win­ning ways in the Pre­mier Lea­gue af­ter three top-flight fix­tures with­out a vic­tory. The West Lon­don club star­ted the mat­ch the bet­ter of the two sides and the hosts had two good scor­ing op­por­tun­it­ies with­in the fir­st ten min­utes of the ga­me, but they failed to con­vert bo­th of them. As the fir­st pe­riod wore on at Stam­ford Bridge, Man­chester Uni­ted came a lot more in­to pro­ceed­ings and the vis­it­ing te­am fi­nally push­ed them­selves in­to the lead thanks to An­thony Mar­tial who­se ef­fi­cient head­er from a bril­liant Aar­on Wan-Bis­saka cross went pa­st Chel­sea and Ar­gen­tina cus­todi­an Willy Caballero and in­to the back of the net on the stroke of ha­lf-time. Fol­low­ing the in­ter­val, Man­chester Uni­ted con­tin­ued their clin­ic­al fin­ish­ing in front of goal and doubled their ad­vant­age thro­ugh Harry Ma­guire who head­ed ho­me a cor­ner-kick de­liv­ery by Bruno Hernandes six min­utes pa­st the hour ma­rk.
