Clive GriffithsClive Grif­fiths, born Pontyp­ridd, Wales, Jan­uary 22, 1955. Clive Grif­fiths played for Man­chester Uni­ted, Ply­mouth Argyle, Tran­mere Rov­ers, Chica­go Sting, and Tulsa Rough­necks in a soc­cer ca­reer which spanned well over a dec­ade. The Welsh­man also ap­peared for Ma­jor In­door Soc­cer Lea­gue te­ams Chica­go Ho­ri­zon and Kan­sas City Comets in the early 1980´s.

A product of the Man­chester Uni­ted Youth Sys­tem, Clive Grif­fiths was han­ded his com­pet­it­ive de­but by Tom­my Doc­herty in a goal­less Fir­st Di­vi­sion draw ag­ainst re­cently pro­moted Burn­ley at Turf Moor on the 27th of Oct­ober 1973, but the young centre ha­lf ul­ti­mately lost his place in the si­de af­ter notch­ing up just sev­en fir­st te­am ap­pear­ances for The Red Dev­ils. Fol­low­ing a short loan spell wi­th Ply­mouth Argyle for whom he amassed el­ev­en Di­vi­sion Three ap­pear­ances dur­ing the 1974-75 sea­son, he was loaned out to am­bi­tious Fourth Di­vi­sion club Tran­mere Rov­ers in the au­tumn of 1975 and was a mem­ber of the Pren­ton Park te­am that won pro­mo­tion back to the Third Di­vi­sion in 1975-76. Grif­fiths la­ter gave ster­ling ser­vice to Chica­go Sting and Tulsa Rough­necks in the North Amer­ic­an Soc­cer Lea­gue, and Chica­go Ho­ri­zon and Kan­sas City Comets in the Ma­jor In­door Soc­cer Lea­gue.
