Dynamo Kiev 2 Man United 4
Dynamo Kiev 2 Manchester United 4, The Olympic National Sports Complex, UEFA Champions League Group Stage, October 23, 2007. Manchester United beat Dynamo Kiev 4-2 courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo brace and goals from Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney.
Manchester United, who had edged out Rome by 1-0 at Old Trafford in their previous group stage match, went ahead as an unmarked Rio Ferdinand headed home a brilliantly delivered free-kick by Ryan Giggs in the tenth minute of the clash before Wayne Rooney netted a second from close range eight minutes later. Brazilian midfield man Diogo Rincon managed to reduce the deficit for Dynamo Kiev when he converted a corner three minutes past the half-hour mark, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to score a third goal for Manchester United with just four minutes remaining of the first half. And with twenty-three minutes gone of the second period, Ronaldo completed his brace from the spot after Goran Gavrancic had handled a cross by Carlos Tevez in his own penalty area. Ismael Bangoura found the back of the net for Dynamo Kiev twelve minutes from time, but it was too late for The White-Blues to mount a serious case for an equaliser.
