England 1 Denmark 0, Wembley Stadium, International Friendly Match, March 5, 2014. Following the victory against Denmark at Wembley, England manager Roy Hodgson told the press that he was impressed by his  young and experimental side. The Three Lions won the international friendly clash with the Danes by a narrow score of 1-0 thanks to a late second half goal from Liverpool flanker Daniel Sturridge in the 82th minute of proceedings.

Roy Hodgson especially singled out defenders Ashley Cole and Luke Shaw for some extra praise after the midweek friendly encounter against Morten Olsen´s Denmark. Roy Hodgson: “I thought that Ashley Cole and Luke Shaw were both very good. It is a tougher decision for me now, yes, but there is a lot of matches still to be played. I will see a lot of Leighton Baines, Cole, and Shaw during the coming months. I was not surprised with Cole as I am a great admirer of him. I have watched Cole during training and he has been unbelievably good, and very fit, right at the top of the running statistics, so there is no question about his fitness. But Ashley Cole is a specialist player. You do not normally play two left fullbacks in the team and, at the very moment, his manager at club level prefers someone else.” England Team: Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Gary Cahill, Chris Smalling, Ashley Cole, Jordan Henderson, Steven Gerrard, Jack Wilshere, Raheem Sterling, Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge.
