England 1 Ireland 1
England 1 Republic of Ireland 1, Wembley Stadium, International Friendly, May 29, 2013. England were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by the Republic of Ireland in the friendly match at Wembley. West Bromwich Albion´s Shane Long put the Irish into the lead on thirteen minutes before Chelsea ace Frank Lampard made the scoreline 1-1 in the 23rd minute.
The Republic of Ireland went into an unexpected lead when Shane Long headed the ball past Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and into the back of the net after just thirteen minutes of play. A mere ten minutes later in the clash, however, Frank Lampard managed to equalise for England when the attack minded midfield combatant hammered home from few yards out to make it 1-1. West Bromwich Albion netminder Ben Foster replaced Joe Hart at the half-time break, while Liverpool full back Glen Johnson was substituted by Manchester United stopper Phil Jones. The English side pushed hard for a winner in the second period of the tie, but Roy Hodgson´s men failed in their attempts to find the net. Arsenal winger Theo Walcott came close to scoring at the end of the international friendly fixture, though, but the Emirates Stadium favourite was denied by Millwall goaltender David Forde and the game ebbed out and finished as a draw.
