England 2 Switzerland 2
England 2 Switzerland 2, Wembley Stadium, UEFA European Championship Qualifier, June 4, 2011. England were held to a surprise draw by Switzerland at Wembley Stadium. Tranquillo Barnetta provided the visitors a shocking 2-0 lead, but goals from midfielder Frank Lampard and winger Ashley Young earned The Three Lions a hard-fought 2-2 draw.
Rio Ferdinand almost converted a dangerous cross from Frank Lampard four minutes before the half-hour mark, but his header went over the bar. Instead it was Switzerland who went ahead in the game thanks to Tranquillo Barnetta who scored on a free-kick in the 32nd minute of the clash, and only three minutes later the same man netted with another free-kick to give the Swiss a 2-0 lead. But with eight minutes remaining of the first half Jack Wilshere was tripped by Arsenal teammate Johan Djourou inside the box and Lampard stepped up and converted the penalty to pull one goal back. And the home side scored again just six minutes following the interval when Ashley Young found the back of the net with a superb shot to make the score two-all.
