Federico Macheda

Fe­d­erico Ma­cheda, born Rome, Italy, Au­gust 22, 1991. Fe­d­erico Ma­cheda ini­ti­ated his play­ing ca­reer wi­th the Lazio Youth Te­am af­ter be­ing spot­ted by coach Vol­fango Pa­tarca at the age of ten. Greatly im­pressed by Ma­cheda, Sir Al­ex Fer­guson bro­ught Ma­cheda to Man­chester Uni­ted where he sig­ned his fir­st pro­fes­sion­al con­tract wi­th the club in Au­gust 2008.

Fe­d­erico Ma­cheda be­came an in­stant hit wi­th the Man­chester Uni­ted fans when he net­ted the win­ning goal on his Pre­mier Lea­gue de­but ag­ainst As­ton Vil­la at Old Traf­ford on the 5th of April 2009. Wi­th fierce com­pet­i­tion for places, the young­ster struggled for a reg­u­lar run of mat­ches, how­ever, and he on­ly ma­naged to notch up 19 Pre­miership ap­pear­ances for The Reds be­fore he joi­ned freshly re­leg­ated Cham­pi­on­ship te­am Car­diff City on a free trans­fer at the end of the 2013-14 cam­paign. Af­ter play­ing 27 Foot­ball Lea­gue ga­mes for The Blue­birds, the for­ward ev­entually de­cided to join for­ces wi­th Itali­an Serie B si­de No­vara Cal­cio in Dec­ember 2016. In­ter­na­tion­ally, Ma­cheda rep­res­en­ted the coun­try of his bir­th at un­der-16, un­der-17, un­der-19, and un­der-21 levels. Fe­d­erico Ma­cheda: “I ar­rived in Ju­ly 2007 with­out my par­ents and was taken to my digs in Man­chester. Af­ter two hours in my room I wanted to go straight back to Rome. The next day I went and trained at Car­ring­ton and af­ter had lunch next to Ry­an Gig­gs and Cris­ti­ano Ron­aldo and Sir Al­ex Fer­guson came and met me and en­cour­aged me. In five years at Lazio I nev­er once met a mem­ber of the fir­st te­am or the manager.”
