Kevin Pilkington Profile

As a Man­chester Uni­ted play­er, Kev­in Pilk­ing­ton had loan peri­ods wi­th Third Di­vi­sion Roch­dale in 1996, Sec­ond Di­vi­sion out­fit Roth­er­ham Uni­ted in 1997, and Scot­tish Pre­mier Di­vi­sion gi­ants Celt­ic in 1998. Fol­low­ing a mere six Pre­mier Lea­gue ap­pear­ances for Uni­ted, the goal­keeper was gran­ted a free trans­fer by man­ager Al­ex Fer­guson at the end of the 1997-98 cam­paign, and sub­sequently de­cided to join for­ces wi­th Fir­st Di­vi­sion te­am Port Vale. Af­ter play­ing in 23 Foot­ball Lea­gue mat­ches for The Vali­ants, Pilk­ing­ton had rather short stints wi­th fir­st Welsh Pre­mier Lea­gue club Aberys­twyth To­wn, and then am­bi­tious Sec­ond Di­vi­sion si­de Wi­gan Ath­let­ic, be­fore he tried his luck at Bill Dearden´s Mans­field To­wn where he ma­naged to clock up 170 Foot­ball Lea­gue ap­pear­ances for The Stags be­tween 2000 and 2005. There fol­lowed moves to fel­low Lea­gue Two te­am Notts Coun­ty at the be­gin­ning of the 2005-06 sea­son, and then to Con­fer­ence Pre­mier out­fit Luton To­wn at the start of the 2010-11 term af­ter a com­par­at­ively brief loan pe­riod wi­th the Bed­ford­shire club dur­ing the 2009-10 cam­paign. Whi­le at Kenil­worth Road, the net­mind­er was shipped out on loan to his pre­vi­ous em­ploy­ers Mans­field To­wn dur­ing the 2010-11 sea­son, notch­ing up ten Con­fer­ence Pre­mier ap­pear­ances for the Field Mill te­am. Af­ter a sec­ond spell wi­th Notts Coun­ty, Pilk­ing­ton fin­ished his play­ing ca­reer to be­come a coach at Eng­lish Foot­ball Lea­gue Two te­am Cam­bridge Uni­ted in Jan­uary 2017.
