Manchester United goalkeeper Ronnie Briggs conceded six goals as Matt Busby´s men suffered a 6-0 loss to Leicester City. Jimmy Walsh and Ken Keyworth hit a brace each for City, while Gordon Willis, and Howard Riley netted a goal apiece.
Following a 2-0 triumph over table topping Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, Manchester United lost 6-0 away to fellow mid-table team Leicester in what was Ronnie Brigg´s debut match for The Reds. City moved ahead when Jimmy Walsh put the ball beyond the reach of Briggs and into the back of the net in the 21st minute of the game and the hosts soon had a second goal as Ken Keyworth found the target a minute past the half-hour mark. The Filberts continued to press high up the pitch in the second half and Walsh and Keyworth completed their braces in the 51st and 70th minutes respectively. Gordon Willis then netted the fifth goal of the day in the 76th minute, while Howard Riley rounded off the scoring as the Wigston born winger beat Briggs from the penalty spot with five minutes left. Unfortunately, Ronnie Briggs only managed to make eleven first team appearances for Manchester United with his final outing coming in a 3-2 First Division defeat against Arsenal at Old Trafford on the 16th of April 1962. The Belfast born shot stopper would later appear for Second Division side Swansea Town and Third Division team Bristol Rovers, and then finally Western League club Frome Town. Internationally, Briggs was handed his senior debut for his native Northern Ireland in a 4-0 British Home Championship loss against Wales at Ninian Park on the 11th of April 1962 and gained his second, and last, full cap in a 2-1 World Cup Qualifier victory over the Netherlands at Windsor Park on the 17th of March 1965.
