Man City 1 Man United 2
Manchester City 1 Manchester United 2, Etihad Stadium, English Premier League, December 7, 2019. Ole Solskjaer´s Manchester United gained an important and confidence-boosting 2-1 triumph against defending Premier League Champions Manchester City in front of a crowd of 54,000 spectators at Eastlands through first half goals by international strikers Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Paul Pogba remained sidelined for Manchester United, but fellow countryman Anthony Martial was back from injury. Marcus Rashford handed Manchester United the lead in the twenty-third minute of the encounter when the attacker converted from the penalty spot after he had been knocked over in the area by Manchester City and Portugal defender Bernardo Silva. And a mere six minutes later Martial added a second goal for The Manchester Reds as he hammered a well-placed low shot from inside the area into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to give the visiting team a two-nil advantage at the interval. Nicolas Otamendi, who had replaced John Stones a minute before the hour mark, managed to reduce the arrears for The Sky Blues with some five minutes left of the derby game, but the visitors held firm to grab all three points. After defeating Manchester City by a 2-1 score at Etihad Stadium, Manchester United had now won on three of their last five visits to the Eastlands in the Premiership.
