Manchester United raced into an early 1-0 lead through French international striker Louis Saha who converted a decent cross from Kieran Richardson on seven minutes, and the home team doubled their advantage as Giuseppe Rossi beat Burton Albion goalkeeper Saul Deeney with a header in the 22nd minute of play. After the interval, Richardson added a third goal for Manchester United in the 52nd minute of the match before goals from Ryan Giggs and Rossi in the 68th and 90th minutes of the encounter handed The Reds a comprehensive 5-0 triumph over the East Staffordshire club.
