Man Utd 2 Bristol Rovers 0
Manchester United 2 Bristol Rovers 0, Old Trafford, English Football League First Division, September 21, 1974. The Reds won their third home game on the trot after beating The Pirates 2-0.
Manchester United, who had edged out an ultra-defensive Millwall team 1-0 at The Den in their previous fixture, got themselves into the lead with eight minutes on the clock when versatile stopper Brian Greenhoff headed home a rebound after his shot had hit the far post. The Bristol Rovers players tried hard to find an equaliser, but any hopes of getting a point were extinguished shortly before the half-hour mark as midfielder Frankie Prince managed to put the ball past his own goalkeeper and into the back of the net. From that point Manchester United dominated completely and the Second Division leaders were unlucky not to score more goals.
