Manchester U 1 Liverpool 0
Manchester United 1 Liverpool 0, Old Trafford, English Football League First Division, September 13, 1969. Manchester United won their third game of the season by beating Liverpool at home.
Following a goalless first half at Old Trafford, Manchester United defeated Bill Shankly´s Liverpool by 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Scotland winger Willie Morgan. Although The Anfielders dominated large parts of the first period, the visiting side were not able to find the back of the net. Manchester United came back much stronger after the resumption of action and took the advantage when Northern Ireland international Georgie Best rose to nod a high ball onto Morgan who drove it home nine minutes past the hour mark. The Liverpool players tried valiantly to get themselves an equaliser, but The Reds of Manchester managed to hold on to secure a narrow 1-0 victory.
