Manchester U 2 Burnley 2
Manchester United 2 Burnley 2, Old Trafford, English Premier League, December 26, 2017. Manchester United and Burnley fought out a two-all draw at Old Trafford on Boxing Day 2017. United found themselves two goals down at the interval, but a brace by England international Jesse Lingard following the restart rescued an important point for the hosts.
Ashley Barnes hammered Burnley into the lead on three minutes after the Manchester United defence had failed to clear a free-kick from Johann Berg Gudmundsson, and six-minutes past the half-hour mark Steven Defour added a second for The Clarets with a brilliant thirty-yard free-kick which went past Reds goalkeeper David de Gea and into the top left-hand corner of the net. Jesse Lingard reduced the arrears for Manchester United eight minutes into the second half when the twenty-year-old midfielder cheekily back-heeled a low cross by Ashley Young past away custodian Nick Pope and into the bottom left-hand corner of the net, and the same player scored again in the first minute of stoppage time as he fired the ball home from inside the box to make it two-all.
