Man­chester Uni­ted 3 Liver­pool 1, Old Traf­ford, Eng­lish Pre­mier Lea­gue, Septem­ber 12, 2015. Fol­low­ing a dis­ap­point­ing 2-1 loss to Swansea City at Liberty Sta­dium, Man­chester Uni­ted re­deemed them­selves by beat­ing North West rivals Liver­pool 3-1 at Old Trafford. 

Man­chester Uni­ted en­joyed plenty of chances dur­ing the fir­st ha­lf, but they were denied by Liver­pool and Bel­gi­um goal­keeper Si­mon Migno­let. The Old Traf­ford club began the sec­ond ha­lf just as pos­it­ively and the break­through came af­ter 49 min­utes when Ju­an Ma­ta sent a low free-kick to Da­ley Bli­nd who hammed a power­ful shot from in­side the pen­alty area pa­st Migno­let and in­to the top left cor­ner of the net. Man­chester Uni­ted car­ried on at­tack­ing and were duly re­war­ded as An­der Her­rera ad­ded a sec­ond goal for the hosts in the 70th min­ute of the der­by ga­me. Bel­gian in­ter­na­tion­al Chris­ti­an Ben­teke gave the away sup­port­ers some re­newed hope when the mas­sive marks­man fou­nd the tar­get on 84 min­utes, but new sign­ing An­thony Mar­tial took the mat­ch bey­ond reach for the vis­it­ors as the de­butant be­at Migno­let wi­th a well pla­ced ef­fort four min­utes from time.
