Man­chester Uni­ted 4 Liver­pool 0, Bank Street, Eng­lish Foot­ball Lea­gue Fir­st Di­vi­sion, Septem­ber 7, 1907. Ta­ble top­ping Man­chester Uni­ted be­at Liver­pool 4-0 thro­ugh a hat-trick from Sandy Turn­bull and a goal by Ge­orge Wall in their fir­st ho­me ga­me of the season. 

Man­chester Uni­ted had trashed As­ton Vil­la 4-1 at Vil­la Park on the fir­st day of the 1907-08 cam­paign, where­as Liver­pool had suf­fered  a 3-1 loss ag­ainst new­ly pro­moted Not­ting­ham For­est at the City Gro­und in their open­ing fix­ture. The Man­cuni­ans got them­selves in front when Scot­tish in­side for­ward Sandy Turn­bull sco­red wi­th a right-footed ef­fort five min­utes pa­st the ha­lf-hour ma­rk be­fore 22-year-old out­side left Ge­orge Wall doubled their ad­vant­age a min­ute ahead of the in­ter­val. Fol­low­ing the ha­lf-time re­fresh­ments, Turn­bull head­ed Man­chester Uni­ted in­to a 3-0 lead in the 48th min­ute of the clash, and the same man sco­red wi­th an­oth­er head­er la­ter in the sec­ond pe­riod to seal a com­pre­hens­ive 4-0 vic­tory for the hosts in front of a 24,000 crowd at Bank Street in Clay­ton.  Af­ter beat­ing the Liv­er­pudli­ans, Uni­ted re­mained top of the ta­ble wi­th four points won from two ga­mes.
