After beating AFC Bournemouth 3–1 away on the opening weekend of the 2016-17 season, Manchester United cruised to another comfortable victory as they overcame Southampton 2-0 at home. At Old Trafford, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored with a header in the 36th minute before the marksman added a second goal from the spot seven minutes in the second half to secure a 2-0 win against The Saints.
