Af­ter suc­cumb­ing to an un­ex­pec­ted 1-0 de­feat at the hands of As­ton Vil­la at Old Traf­ford three days earli­er, Man­chester Uni­ted out­classed Wol­ves 3-0 at ho­me cour­tesy of a goal each by Way­ne Roo­ney, Ne­manja Vid­ic, and An­tonio Va­lencia respectively.

Way­ne Roo­ney sco­red the open­ing goal for Man­chester Uni­ted ag­ainst Wolver­hampton from the pen­alty spot on the ha­lf-hour ma­rk af­ter Wan­derers de­fender Ron­ald Zubar had handled a cor­ner-kick by Dar­ron Gib­son. Ser­bi­an in­ter­na­tion­al Ne­manja Vid­ic then doubled the ad­vant­age for Man­chester Uni­ted as he con­ver­ted an­oth­er Gib­son cor­ner two min­utes ahead of the break be­fore An­tonio Va­lencia net­ted the third six min­utes pa­st the hour ma­rk to se­cure a con­fid­ence-boost­ing 3-0 vic­tory for The Reds ag­ainst Wol­ves.
