Wayne Rooney scored the opening goal for Manchester United against Wolverhampton from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark after Wanderers defender Ronald Zubar had handled a corner-kick by Darron Gibson. Serbian international Nemanja Vidic then doubled the advantage for Manchester United as he converted another Gibson corner two minutes ahead of the break before Antonio Valencia netted the third six minutes past the hour mark to secure a confidence-boosting 3-0 victory for The Reds against Wolves.
