Louis van Gaal´s Manchester United came into the Sunday fixture on the back of a tough-fought 1-1 Premier League draw against Stoke City at Britannia Stadium, while Yeovil Town had suffered a heavy 3-0 League One loss at the hands of Leyton Orient at Huish Park in their previous match. Manchester United eventually got themselves into the lead as former Athletic Bilbao midfield playmaker Ander Herrera volleyed the ball home four minutes past the hour mark and the Premiership club doubled their advantage when Radamel Falcao replacement Angel di Maria ran onto a quick thinking through ball from Wayne Rooney and beat Yeovil goalkeeper Jed Steer to seal the win following 90 minutes of action at Huish Park.
