Rooney nevertheless redeemed himself as he gave Manchester United the lead eight minutes later, only for Frazier Campbell to produce an equaliser for The Bluebirds shortly after the half-hour mark. United eventually regained their advantage in the forty-fifth minute of the tie thanks to Patrice Evra, but Cardiff hit back again when Kim Bo-Kyung made the score two-all during stoppage time.
