Chel­sea were top­ping the Pre­mier Lea­gue ta­ble wi­th 56 points col­lec­ted from 24 ga­mes played, sev­en points clear of sec­ond pla­ced Man­chester City, and el­ev­en points ahead of sur­prise te­am South­ampton who were in third spot.
