For­mer Man­chester City wing­man Geor­gios Samaras ev­entually equal­ised for The Bhoys from the pen­alty spot in the 61st min­ute of the friendly en­counter be­fore Ber­batov cros­sed low for Gab­riel Ober­tan re­place­ment Dan­ny Wel­beck who re­gistered Man­chester United´s sec­ond goal from clo­se ran­ge in the 79th min­ute of the ac­tion. Then, wi­th a mere sev­en min­utes left on the watch of mat­ch of­fi­cial Silviu Pet­res­cu, Di­m­it­ar Ber­batov fou­nd for­ward think­ing mid­fielder Tom Clev­er­ley who made the fi­nal sco­reline read 3-1 in fa­vour of Man­chester Uni­ted when his twenty-five-yard shot changed dir­ec­tion af­ter hit­ting Celt­ic and Re­pub­lic of Ire­land de­fender Dar­ren O’Dea.
