Manchester U 1 Valencia 1
Manchester United 1 Valencia 1, Old Trafford, UEFA Champions League Group Stage, December 7, 2010. Manchester United secured top spot in Champions League Group C as they drew 1-1 to Valencia. The Spaniards went ahead in the 32nd minute of proceedings through Pablo Hernandez before Oliveira Anderson brought United level on 62 minutes after away goalkeeper Vicente Guaita had parried an effort by fellow midfield man Ji-Sung Park.
Oliveira Anderson enjoyed an excellent game against Valencia and the former Porto playmaker was clearly the most distinguished ball worker afield. The Organges nevertheless looked set to cause a major surprise after taking a shock lead in the first half at Old Trafford. Against the flow of play, Manchester United went behind just after the half-hour mark when Michael Carrick carelessly lost the ball in midfield to Alejandro Dominguez who then found rocket-heeled winger Pablo Hernandez whose fierce low drive went through the legs of home goalkeeper Ben Amos. To their credit, though, Sir Alex Ferguson´s men came out stronger following the interval and duly pulled one back two minutes past the hour mark as Oliveira Anderson scored one of his rare goals to rescue a point for the hosts.
