After beating Liverpool at Anfield, Sir Alex Ferguson admitted his team were fortunate to take all three points against the Liverpudlians. Manchester United came from behind to win the encounter 2-1 courtesy of a goal each by Rafael da Silva and Robin van Persie.
The Sunday win was Manchester United´s first triumph over Liverpool at Anfield since the 16th of December 2007. After overcoming Brendan Rodgers´s struggling side, The Manchester Reds moved within a point of table topping Chelsea in the Premier League title race. As for Liverpool, The Anfielders now found themselves in eighteenth position in the Premiership table with a mere two points from five matches played. Sir Alex Ferguson: “Manchester United were very poor. Liverpool dominated the first half and we were lucky. In the second half we had better statistics in terms of possession, but we were playing against ten men so that was disappointing. It has been the same the last four years when we have come here, so we are pleased with the result, but not with the performance.
