Af­ter beat­ing Liver­pool at An­field, Sir Al­ex Fer­guson ad­mit­ted his te­am were for­tu­nate to take all three points ag­ainst the Liv­er­pudli­ans. Man­chester Uni­ted came from be­hind to win the en­counter 2-1 cour­tesy of a goal each by Ra­fael da Silva and Robin van Persie.

The Sunday win was Man­chester United´s fir­st tri­umph over Liver­pool at An­field since the 16th of Dec­ember 2007. Af­ter over­com­ing Brendan Rodgers´s strug­gling si­de, The Man­chester Reds mo­ved with­in a point of ta­ble top­ping Chel­sea in the Pre­mier Lea­gue title race. As for Liver­pool, The An­field­ers now fou­nd them­selves in eight­eenth po­s­i­tion in the Pre­miership ta­ble wi­th a mere two points from five mat­ches played. Sir Al­ex Fer­guson: “Man­chester Uni­ted were very poor. Liver­pool dom­in­ated the fir­st ha­lf and we were lucky. In the sec­ond ha­lf we had bet­ter stat­ist­ics in terms of pos­ses­sion, but we were play­ing ag­ainst ten men so that was dis­ap­point­ing. It has be­en the same the last four years when we have come here, so we are pleased wi­th the res­ult, but not wi­th the per­form­ance.
