Man­chester Uni­ted mid­fielder Sam­my Mc­Ilroy made his de­but for Norhern Ire­land in the one-all draw ag­ainst Spain at Booth­ferry Park. The Span­iards went ahead af­ter forty min­utes of play when Joa­quin “Quino” Si­erra Vallejo passed to Fran­cisco Aguilar who­se cross fou­nd Jose Fran­cisco Rojo who head­ed the ball bey­ond the reach of North­ern Ire­land and Tot­ten­ham Hot­spur cus­todi­an Pat Jen­nings and in­to the net. Then, wi­th eight­een min­utes left of nor­mal time, Shef­field Wednesday´s Dave Cle­m­ents sent a free-kick to Man­chester Uni­ted ace Ge­orge Best, who in turn passed  the ball to Port Vale stri­ker Sam­my Mor­gan who­se ef­fort be­at the away goal­keeper to make the fi­nal score one-all.
