New England 1 Man Utd 4
New England Revolution 1 Manchester United 4, Gillette Stadium, Friendly Match, July 13, 2011. Ashley Young came in for a lot of praise from Sir Alex Ferguson after the comprehensive 4-1 victory against Steve Nicol´s New England Revolution in Foxborough.
Former Aston Villa favourite Ashley Young made a fine debut for Manchester United against New England Revolution team at the Gillette Stadium and Sir Alex Ferguson was confident that the twenty-six-year-old winger would have no problems settling into his new surroundings. Sir Alex Ferguson: “Aston Villa started playing Ashley Young behind the strikers in a more advanced role last campaign, like the way Manchester United use Wayne Rooney. Young´s capabilities are such that he can play at wide left, he can play in behind the strikers, and he can play wide right. Young showed tonight that he is a fantastic crosser of the ball. He hit three fantastic crosses during the game, which maybe is not something that we are used to with the way that we play. But if we do get used to it, then there are goals there. I was very satisfied.” New England Revolution Team: Matt Reis, Chris Tierney, Anthony James Soares, Franco Coria, Kevin Alston, Zak Boggs, Benny Feilhaber, Shalrie Joseph, Pat Phelan, Sainey Nyassi, Rajko Lekic.
