Manchester United collected their fourth successive Premier League win under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as they beat Newcastle United 2-0 thanks to a goal each from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in the 64th and 80th minutes respectively.
Both teams had their moments in the first half, but no goals were scored before the break. Manchester United began the second half the better and the visitors finally went ahead four minutes past the hour mark when substitute Romelu Lukaku found the target after home goalkeeper Martin Dubravka had failed to hold a free-kick from Marcus Rashford. And with ten minutes remaining of normal time, Rashford registered the second goal of the evening as the young frontman finished off a counter-attack by rounding Dubravka and then putting the ball into the empty net.
