Northern Ireland 0 England 0, Windsor Park, British Home Championship, May 17, 1975. Both Northern Ireland and England enjoyed plenty of goal scoring opportunities throughout the match, but neither was able to find the back of the net at Windsor Park.

Northern Ireland and England played out a goalless, but entertaining, draw in the first encounter between the two countries at Windsor Park in four years. The Irish, who were led by player-manager Dave Clements, had defeated Yugoslavia 1-0 in Belfast in their previous fixture, whereas England had beaten Cyprus by the same score at Tsirion Stadium in Limassol. The first chance fell to The Three Lions early on when Liverpool´s Kevin Keegan hit the crossbar with a dangerous header from a Denis Tueart corner before Sunderland stopper Dave Watson saw his shot from the rebound blocked by Tottenham Hotspur and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pat Jennings. Alan Ball and his colleagues kept on pushing forward and the visiting side had several good opportunities as the first period moved on, but they failed to capitalise on them. Now, if the first half belonged to England, the second belonged to Northern Ireland. Spurred on by a 36,500 strong home crowd, Clements and company created a number of scoring chances following the restart, but struggled to find a way past Ray Clemence in the England goal. Manchester United´s Sammy Mcilroy, who dominated midfield after the break, and Derek Spence of Third Division Bury both came agonisingly close to scoring in the second period, only to watch their efforts go unrewarded. And so the game ended with the two teams sharing the spoils. Northern Ireland Team: Pat Jennings, Pat Rice, Chris Nicholl, Liam O’Kane, Allan Hunter, Dave Clements, Bryan Hamilton, Martin O’Neill, Derek Spence, Sammy McIlroy, Tommy Jackson. Substitute: Tom Finney. England Team: Ray Clemence, Stephen Whitworth, Colin Todd, Emlyn Hughes, Dave Watson, Colin Viljoen, Colin Bell, Alan Ball, Malcolm MacDonald, Kevin Keegan, Dennis Tueart. Substitute: Mick Channon.
