The Dub­liner made his Uni­ted de­but on the 23rd of Sep­tember 1937 in a 2-1 Sec­ond Di­vi­sion loss to South­ampton at Old Traf­ford and helped The Reds gain pro­mo­tion to Di­vi­sion One in the 1936-37 sea­son.
