During his Manchester United career, Scott Wootton was loaned out to Tranmere Rovers, Peterborough United, and Nottingham Forest before he signed a three-year contract with Football League Championship team Leeds United at the beginning of the 2013-14 campaign. The dependable central defender celebrated his debut for The Whites by scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 League Cup Second Round triumph against Doncaster Rovers at Keepmoat Stadium on the 27th of August 2013, and made his first Championship appearance for the club in a 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road four days later. In the 2014-15 season, though, he was shipped out on loan to Rotherham United where he amassed seven Championship appearances for The Millers under Scottish manager Steve Evans. After appearing in 66 Championship matches for Leeds United, Wootton decided to team up with League One side Milton Keynes Dons where he stayed for two seasons until he signed with Plymouth Argyle at the start of the 2018-19 campaign.
