As the score­board clock ticked down, how­ever, Man­chester Uni­ted had two goals in quick suc­ces­sion when Best be­at Shef­field Wed­nesday cus­todi­an Pe­ter Sprin­gett wi­th a left-foot shot af­ter 82 min­utes be­fore he com­pleted his brace by un­leash­ing an un­stoppable ef­fort in­to the net a min­ute la­ter.
