Swansea 1 Manchester U 1
Swansea City 1 Manchester United 1, Liberty Stadium, English Premier League, December 23, 2012. According to manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the Manchester United fans got their Christmas present when Robin van Persie arrived at the club at the start of the season.
Robin van Persie had another excellent game for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson´s men gained an important point against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium. Born in Rotterdam, Van Persie had played for local teams SBV Excelsior and Feyenoord before he brought to newly crowned Premier League Champions Arsenal for a transfer fee in the region of £2.75 million at the end of the 2003-04 campaign. After scoring 96 goals in 194 Premiership appearances for The Gunners, the highly dependable forward was then lured to Manchester United by Ferguson for an estimated fee of £24 million in the summer of 2012. Sir Alex Ferguson: “I reckon that we got our Christmas present early; right at the start of the season when Robin van Persie arrived at Old Trafford. I am reluctant to subscribe to the cult of the individual but sometimes there really is a situation when you are lucky enough to find the last piece of the jigsaw. As we approach the halfway point of the season, I have no hesitation saying that he has made a vital difference to our chances of making our mark in this season’s title race. It is quite remarkable how quickly he has settled at Old Trafford. He is the consummate professional. He has a good lifestyle with a great sense of responsibility. There is no doubt that he has moved us forward as a team.” Swansea City Team: Michel Vorm, Dwight Tiendalli, Chico, Ashley Williams, Ben Davies, Kemy Agustien, Leon Britton, Nathan Dyer, Jonathan De Guzman, Miguel Perez Cuesta, Wayne Routledge.
