An­tonio Va­lencia could have giv­en The Reds the lead af­ter sev­en min­utes of play, but his right-foot ef­fort went wide. Uni­ted ul­ti­mately went ahead thro­ugh a clo­se ran­ge goal from Di­m­it­ar Ber­batov on 62 min­utes, whi­le John O´Shea made the fi­nal score 2-0 to the vis­it­ors in the 77th min­ute.
