Sir Al­ex Ferguson´s Man­chester Uni­ted si­de trashed Sun­der­land 4-0 at The Sta­dium of Light to gain their fifth suc­cess­ive Pre­mier Lea­gue vic­tory. Way­ne Roo­ney opened the scor­ing ac­count for the vis­it­ors af­ter twenty min­utes when he re­ceived a mag­ni­fi­cent thro­ugh pass from de­fender Wes Bro­wn and coolly struck the ball bey­ond the arms of Sun­der­land shot stop­per Craig Gor­don and in­to the bot­tom right-hand cor­ner of the net from eight­een yards out. The goalscorer then turn pro­vider as he cros­sed for French in­ter­na­tion­al stri­ker Louis Saha who clin­ic­ally vol­leyed the ball pa­st Gor­don and in­to the back of the net on the ha­lf-hour ma­rk. Man­chester Uni­ted stret­ched their ad­vant­age fur­ther thro­ugh Cris­ti­ano Ron­aldo who curled in a free-kick in the 45th min­ute be­fore Saha sco­red the fi­nal goal of the ga­me from the pen­alty spot on 85 min­utes to se­cure a com­pre­hens­ive 4-0 away win for The Reds ag­ainst The Black Cats.
