Birm­ing­ham born Terry Cooke kick-star­ted his ca­reer at Man­chester Uni­ted, but the mid­field play­er failed to se­cure a reg­u­lar fir­st te­am berth at Old Traf­ford and, in or­der to ob­tain some much need­ed play­ing ex­per­i­ence, he was shipped out on loan to Sun­der­land, Birm­ing­ham City, Wrex­ham, and Man­chester City re­spect­ively. Fol­low­ing his loan pe­riod wi­th The Light Blues, Cooke sig­ned a per­man­ent con­tract wi­th the Maine Road club at the back end of the 1998-99 cam­paign, but af­ter on­ly ma­king a mere 20 Pre­mier Lea­gue ap­pear­ances for the si­de he was dis­patched to Grimsby To­wn for whom he played just 25 Lea­gue Di­vi­sion One mat­ches be­fore he pro­ceeded to play for Shef­field Wed­nesday, Col­or­ado Rap­ids, North Queens­land Fury, and then fi­nally Gabala FK where he ended his play­ing ca­reer in 2011.
