The Three Li­ons ul­ti­mately de­feated the So­uth Amer­ic­ans by 3-0 thanks to one goal each from Dan­iel Stur­ridge, Ga­ry Ca­hill, and Phil Ja­gielka respectively.

Eng­land had edged out Den­mark 1-0 at Wemb­ley in their pre­vi­ous ga­me and were firm fa­vour­ites to over­come Peru who had not ma­naged to win a single mat­ch since de­feat­ing Ecuador 1-0 in a Wor­ld Cup Qual­i­fy­ing fix­ture at the Es­ta­dio Nacion­al de Peru in Lima on the 7th of June 2013. Three Li­ons man­ager Roy Hodg­son had be­en hop­ing for a mor­ale boost­er ag­ainst Peru and he was not let down by his play­ers as they cruised to a com­fort­able win over The White and Red. Eng­land dom­in­ated from the be­gin­ning and Liver­pool for­ward Dan­iel Stur­ridge sco­red a mag­ni­fi­cent open­ing goal to hand the ho­me te­am the lead twelve min­utes be­fore the break. Then, twenty min­utes af­ter the re­start, the white shirts doubled their ad­vant­age as Chel­sea de­fender Ga­ry Ca­hill rose to head the ball pa­st FC Dal­las and Peru goal­keeper Raul Fernan­dez and in­to the back of the net, and on­ly five min­utes la­ter the hosts in­creased their lead fur­ther cour­tesy of a clo­se ran­ge goal from Everton´s Phil Ja­gielka.
