England 3 Peru 0
England 3 Peru 0, Wembley Stadium, International Friendly Match, May 30, 2014. Manchester United marksman Wayne Rooney made his first appearance for a month in England´s victory against Peru. The Three Lions ultimately defeated the South Americans by 3-0 thanks to one goal each from Daniel Sturridge, Gary Cahill, and Phil Jagielka respectively.
England had edged out Denmark 1-0 at Wembley in their previous game and were firm favourites to overcome Peru who had not managed to win a single match since defeating Ecuador 1-0 in a World Cup Qualifying fixture at the Estadio Nacional de Peru in Lima on the 7th of June 2013. Three Lions manager Roy Hodgson had been hoping for a morale booster against Peru and he was not let down by his players as they cruised to a comfortable win over The White and Red. England dominated from the beginning and Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge scored a magnificent opening goal to hand the home team the lead twelve minutes before the break. Then, twenty minutes after the restart, the white shirts doubled their advantage as Chelsea defender Gary Cahill rose to head the ball past FC Dallas and Peru goalkeeper Raul Fernandez and into the back of the net, and only five minutes later the hosts increased their lead further courtesy of a close range goal from Everton´s Phil Jagielka.
