Newcastle United 0 Manchester United 3, St James´ Park, English Premier League, October 7, 2012. Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley scored a stunning goal in the 3-0 away win over Newcastle United. With twenty minutes left, Cleverley curled the ball across home goalkeeper Steve Harper and into the top corner to seal the win over The Magpies.

Manchester United dominated proceedings from the beginning and defenders Jonny Evans and Patrice Evra provided the Old Trafford side with a comfortable 2-0 lead at the half-time interval. The Newcastle supporters screamed for a goal early in the second half, but match official Howard Webb and his assistant disagreed. Then in the 71st minute of the encounter, a brilliant long distance goal from midfield workhorse Tom Cleverley eventually saw Sir Alex Ferguson´s United emerge with a convincing 3-0 triumph over Newcastle at St James´ Park. Sir Alex Ferguson: “It was a great result to come here and win 3-0 against a very powerful and aggressive Newcastle team. You have to really perform and make sure you keep control of the game and I think we did that for most of the time. We were terrific in the second period against Spurs; it was an absolutely brilliant performance, but the first period spoiled the whole day. Whereas today we were really on top of our game in terms of concentration, determination and all of the things you want to see in a side that´s going to win.” Newcastle United Team: Steve Harper, Davide Santon, Mike Williamson, Shane Ferguson, Jonas Gutierrez, James Perch, Cheik Tiote, Hatem Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse.
