Mickey Tho­mas pro­duced a rare goal for Wales as The Red Dragons out­classed Ro­mania at Wrexham´s Race­course Gro­und. The Welsh­men were three goals up at the break and ad­ded two more in the sec­ond pe­riod to win the friendly en­counter by a 5-0 margin.

Ian Rush put Wales in­to the lead wi­th a clin­ic­al clo­se ran­ge fin­ish four­teen min­utes in­to the fir­st ha­lf. Mickey Tho­mas sco­red a sec­ond goal for Mi­ke England´s si­de as the rock­et-heeled wing­man beau­ti­fully fired a curl­ing shot from in­side the pen­alty box pa­st Ro­mania cus­todi­an Silviu Lung and in­to the top right-hand cor­ner of the net in the twenty-fifth min­ute be­fore Rush ad­ded a third on the ha­lf-hour ma­rk. Fol­low­ing the in­ter­val, Rob­bie Ja­mes made it 4-0 to Wales on sev­enty-two min­utes, whi­le Alan Curtis roun­ded off the scor­ing spree in the fi­nal min­ute of the clash.
