The Man­cuni­ans, who came fresh from a hard fou­ght 1-0 vic­tory ag­ainst Nor­wich City at Car­row Road three days earli­er, fou­nd them­selves one goal down af­ter ten min­utes as Seneg­al in­ter­na­tion­al Di­afra Sakho sco­red wi­th a well pla­ced shot which went pa­st away goal­keeper Da­vid de Gea and in­to the bot­tom left cor­ner of the net. Fol­low­ing the ha­lf-time re­fresh­ments, Man­chester Uni­ted re­stored par­ity thanks to a clo­se ran­ge goal from An­thony Mar­tial in the 51st min­ute of the en­counter, and the French­man net­ted ag­ain when he fou­nd the tar­get from a dif­fi­cult angle twenty-one min­utes min­utes la­ter. But wi­th four­teen min­utes re­maining of nor­mal time, Mi­chail An­tonio made it 2-2 wi­th a head­er be­fore Win­ston Re­id nod­ded ho­me the win­ner for West Ham in the 81st min­ute to seal a 3-2 win for The Irons over The Reds in what was the last foot­ball mat­ch to be played at Boleyn Gro­und.
