Fourth Division side Wrexham proved no threat to Manchester United, who secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over The Red Dragons. Sir Alex Ferguson´s men dominated from the outset and went into the lead a minute past the half-hour mark through a close range finish from Mark Robins. United kept up the pressure and doubled their advantage four minutes later when Steve Bruce hammered home from a few yards out after the ball had been cleared off the line. After defeating Wrexham at Racecourse Ground, United would now face French club Montpellier in the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners´ Cup.
